Annotate a PDF

Highlight text, add comments in text boxes, draw and add images, then save the PDF. Your notes are real PDF annotations, so they show up in any PDF reader.

How to annotate a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. It opens in the StaplePDF workspace with the comment tools ready.
  2. Pick Highlight and select text, Text box and click where your comment goes, Draw to mark up freely, or Image to add a picture. Change the colour and size as you go.
  3. Select Done, then save. The Comments panel lists every annotation, and you can delete any of them.

Private by design

StaplePDF adds your annotations inside your browser; the document is never uploaded. Because they're standard PDF annotations, colleagues can see, reply to or remove them in Acrobat Reader, Preview and other PDF apps.

Questions

Can I make the annotations permanent?

Yes: Flatten all in the workspace's tools turns them into part of the page, so they can't be moved or removed.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Every change in the workspace can be undone with Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on a Mac).
