PDF to Word
Turn a PDF into a Word document you can edit, with its headings, paragraphs and lists. The conversion happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.
How to convert a PDF to Word
- Choose your PDF, or drag it onto the box above.
- Pick Word or plain text, then select Convert.
- Download the document and open it in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice.
What you get
A PDF stores where each piece of text sits on the page, not paragraphs and headings. StaplePDF works them out again: lines are joined back into paragraphs (mending words split with a hyphen at the end of a line), larger and bold lines become Word headings, so they show in Word's navigation pane, and bulleted and numbered lines stay list items. Bold and italic text is kept, and each PDF page starts a new page.
Pictures, tables and the exact layout aren't carried over: the result is the document's text, ready to edit. To keep a page looking exactly as it is, use PDF to JPG, or edit the PDF itself in the StaplePDF editor.
Private by design
Online converters usually upload your PDF to their servers. StaplePDF reads it inside your browser and builds the Word document on your device, so the file never leaves it.
Questions
My PDF is a scan. Will it work?
A scan is only pictures of pages, with no text to convert. Make it searchable first with OCR PDF, save it, then convert it here.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password to open it: you'll be asked for it.
How do I turn a Word document back into a PDF?
In Word, choose File, then Save As (or Export), and pick PDF.
