Turn the tables in a PDF into a spreadsheet, with rows, columns and numbers you can calculate with. The conversion happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.

How to convert a PDF to Excel

  1. Choose your PDF, or drag it onto the box above.
  2. Select Convert.
  3. Download the workbook and open it in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice.

What you get

Each page becomes a sheet, named “Page 1”, “Page 2” and so on. StaplePDF works out the rows from the lines of text and the columns from where text lines up down the page, so a table comes out as a table. Numbers become real numbers, including ones written with thousands separators, in brackets (as negatives) or as percentages, so formulas work on them straight away. Bold headings stay bold.

Text that runs across the page, such as titles and paragraphs, goes in the first column. Tables drawn as pictures (in a scan, say) have no text to read: recognize their text first.

Private by design

Financial statements, invoices and bank exports are exactly what you'd rather not upload. StaplePDF reads the PDF inside your browser and builds the spreadsheet on your device.

Questions

My PDF is a scan. Will it work?

A scan is only pictures of pages. Make it searchable first with OCR PDF, save it, then convert it here.

Can I get the text as a document instead?

Use PDF to Word.
