Watermark a PDF
Stamp DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your own words across the pages of a PDF. It all happens on your device.
or drop it here
🔒 Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to add a watermark
- Choose your PDF. It opens in the editor with the watermark options ready.
- Type the watermark text, then set its size, angle, colour and how see-through it is.
- Choose whether it goes over the page or behind its content, and which pages get it, then select Apply.
- Save your watermarked PDF.
Over or behind
Over the page, the watermark is hard to miss. Behind the content, it sits under the text and pictures, so everything stays easy to read. Either way it's centred on each page and the right way up, even on rotated pages.
Private by design
StaplePDF adds the watermark inside your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded.
Questions
Can someone remove the watermark?
It's written into the pages themselves, not added as a comment, so a PDF reader can't simply hide it. Anyone with an editor can still work at removing it: for real protection, also protect the PDF.
Can I add page numbers too?
Yes: see Add page numbers.
